King Sushi was established in December 1999 as a retail sushi outlet in Rye and in September 2000 a noodle bar was added. The wholesale business was developed slowly and now supplies sushi and other food products to restaurants, hotels, caterers, golf clubs, bed & breakfasts, schools, hospitals, Cerberus naval base, cruise ships and other clients on the Mornington Peninsula.

King Sushi has close relationships with caterers and chefs at food outlets on the Mornington Peninsula and consults with them on new menu items as required for seasonal menus. The operation supplies spring rolls, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, curry puffs and various dumplings to caterers and food outlets.

A second King Sushi retail outlet was opened in Centro Mornington Shopping Centre in August 2002 and a third outlet was opened at Rosebud shopping centre in 2007.

A factory at Mornington, purpose built for sushi manufacture, began operating in October 2007. The factory supplies the retail shops as well as wholesale customers, including supermarkets, caterers, hotels, restaurants, schools and general stores.

A fourth outlet is scheduled to open in September 2008 at the new Power Centre bulk goods site in Frankston.
